Safety Initiatives
TSRC participates with agencies across New Jersey in proactive programs that make it safer to drive, walk, and live on and around our roadways.
TSRC safety initiatives serve state and local transportation safety agencies by providing products, technical assistance, training, and engineering and other services. One of the center’s primary activities is to help reduce the number and severity of crashes.
The support TSRC offers can take many forms such as:
- Technical assistance that includes traffic engineering services
- Training users of the Plan4Safety crash data analysis web application
- Recommending alternative solutions that include low-cost “quick fix” options for traffic safety
- Identifying high-crash locations and evaluating countermeasures to reduce crash frequency and/or severity
