SUMMARY:2024 Annual NJ Work Zone Safety Conference **Registration Closed**
DESCRIPTION:The New Jersey Work Zone Safety Conference promotes work zone safety awareness on local and state roadways for a multi-disciplinary audience of construction\, engineering\, public safety\, maintenance\, and operations personnel. \nThis year’s in-person event will commence with a presentation by the State Police on their observations while conducting Work Zone Safety Inspections. Captain Frank Pumphrey from Cedar Grove Police Department and Brian Crain from OSHA will discuss Struck-by Incidences which occur in Work Zones all too often.  Dr. John Bullough will discuss lighting research and consideration when illuminating a Work Zone.  The keynote presentation will be delivered by Eric Ferron from the FHWA\, who will address the recent additions and alterations to the 11th Edition of the MUTCD.  Brian Crossley\,   manager of the Temporary Traffic Control Unit with PennDOT\, is going to give an update on PennDOT’s Automated Speed Camera Program which was implemented 3 years ago in Pennsylvania.  The conference will conclude with a presentation from the State Police and Laborer Unions 172 & 472 addressing Accountability in Work Zones and the current Safety Campaign being promoted by the Work Zone Safety Partnership. \nAs part of the program\, the New Jersey Work Zone Safety Excellence Awards will be presented to recognize inspiring efforts of individuals\, companies and roadway agencies that have demonstrated effective temporary traffic control in planned work zones on New Jersey roadways. \nHosted by Rutgers Center for Advanced Infrastructure and Transportation (CAIT) and the New Jersey Work Zone Safety Partnership (NJWZSP). The NJWZSP is an ad hoc committee with the primary goal of promoting work zone safety education and awareness to reduce the number of workers and road users being injured or killed in work zones.
