SUMMARY:Rutgers Rail & Transit Seminar Series: A Presentation from Long Island Rail Road on Designing Track Standards and New Turnouts
DESCRIPTION:Railroad track standards are always in a state of being updating and improved upon. These improvements can have tremendous cost-saving benefits\, can reduce potential safety risks\, and are important for fostering innovation and progress. \nAt this seminar\, leaders from the Long Island Rail Road’s (LIRR) Track Standards and Specifications Department will discuss their commitment to innovation in the railroad industry\, the latest engineering skills and industry knowledge\, and some of the company’s recent and innovative work updating and preserving track standards and designing new turnouts on the LIRR. \nThis discussion is designed to help engineering students learn more about track standards and turnouts\, as well as the rail industry in general. Students\, faculty\, and staff are all encouraged to attend this free seminar! \n  \nBrief Agenda:\n\nLunch: 12:30 pm – 1 pm\nSeminar: 1 pm – 2 pm\n\nPizza and refreshments will be served before the seminar! \n  \nOur Presenters:\nMr. Yifeng Mao\, P.E. \nMr. Yifeng Mao\, P.E.\, has been working in the railroad industry for the last 16 years\, with 8 years at PATH railroad\, and 8 years at MTA LIRR\, which he has held many progressively responsible positions in railroad track engineering\, from LIRR’s “Junior Engineer” to currently as “Engineer of Track Standards and Specification”\, and “Engineer of Track Mainline Third Track Expansion Project”\, with increased responsibilities. Yifeng Mao is a Professional Engineer in NY. \n  \nMr. Hiren Kantilal Joshi \nMr. Hiren Kantilal Joshi has been working in the railroad industry both in India and in the US for the last 24 years\, and has been at MTA LIRR for the last 6 years\, where he currently works as an Assistant Engineer of Track Standards and Specifications.
