SUMMARY:NJLTAP - Stormwater Regulations Impact on Daily Public Works Operations (Webinar)
DESCRIPTION:Course Description:\nThe New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection oversees the Stormwater Management Program for the state. Municipalities and Counties are required to obtain stormwater permits. \nIt is estimated that up to 60% of our existing water pollution problems are attributable to stormwater/nonpoint pollution. The Stormwater Management Program attempts to reduce stormwater/nonpoint pollutant contributions through the implementation of best management practices including public education. Stormwater management is important because it helps prevent flooding\, erosion\, and pollution. It also protects water quality and ecosystems. \nSo\, how do we implement best practices to mitigate stormwater issues? How does public works consider stormwater in its day to day activities? \nLearning Objectives:  \n\nIdentify what public works activities impact stormwater\nConsider ways to mitigate stormwater impacts by changing processes or procedures\nAssess current practices for their stormwater impact\n\nIntended Audience:\nAnyone involved in municipal public works management and operations. \nPre-Requisites:\nNone \nCredits:\n1 PDH; 1 CPWM Management contact hours \nPresenter:\nRichard Brevogel\, CPWM and Mark Getsinger\, PE\, Remington & Vernick Engineers \nSponsor:\nThis workshop is sponsored by the New Jersey Chapter of the American Public Works Association in partnership with the Federal Highway Administration and New Jersey Department of Transportation through the New Jersey Local Technical Assistance Program.
