Research & Projects
LPS’s technical expertise includes large-scale simulation models for port and waterway logistics, performance analysis, risk analysis, and supply chain logistics—all of which are crucial to mitigate risks, optimize operations, and develop effective procedures for prevention and recovery in the face of high-impact port closures.
Some recent LPS projects include:
- Modeling and Analysis of Vessel Traffic in the Delaware River and Delaware Bay: Risk Assessment, Mitigation, and Recovery [PDF]
- Risk Analysis and Mitigation of Vessel Traffic in the Istanbul Strait, Turkey [PDF]
- Modeling Container Inspection Operations at NY/NJ Port Terminals [PDF]
- Modeling and Performance Evaluation of Container Inspection Processes in New York/New Jersey Marine Terminals
- Capacity Planning of Mineral Handling Bulk Ports
Special Volume on Port Security/Safety in Progess
A special volume, "Port Security/Safety Risk Analysis and Modeling: Annals of Operations Research," is currently being prepared by LPS program director and guest editor, Tayfur Altiok, Ph.D. To view an abstract and list of submission topics, download the Call for Papers PDF.
