The main goal of this study is to evaluate the behavior of the base materials with different gradations (percentages of fines) and moisture contents for the construction of pavements. In order to understand the effects of variation of gradation on the performance of the pavement systems, and hence, to achieve the main goal, this research project has the following objectives:
1) To determine the stiffness parameters of base materials with various fines contents
2) To understand the response of the base materials on the engineering properties due to changes in the moisture content
3) To develop a relationship between the stiffness parameters and percentage of fines
4) To develop a relationship between the stiffness parameters and moisture content
5) To correlate stiffness parameter obtained from laboratory and field methods
