Summary:

This research is essential for the use of modal analysis for condition assessment and damage detection. Currently, one of the main drawbacks in using dynamics for bridge condition assessment is that the environment has a significant impact on the dynamics of a bridge. By conducting a rigorous study of temperature and modal properties we propose to isolate and precisely characterize these environmental effects thus allowing future studies to isolate the changes that occur due to changes in bridge condition.
