On April 8th, 2021 FHWA hosted a webinar entitled “You Have Crash Data, Now What?” This webinar focused on Rural Roadway Departures, which make up a third of U.S. traffic fatalities—about 30 people a day. The Every Day Counts round five (EDC-5) initiative, Focus on Reducing Rural Roadway Departures (FoRRRwD), features four pillars: Addressing All Public Roads, Systemic Approach, Safety Action Plans, and Proven Countermeasures. This webinar focuses on the Systemic Approach pillar. State, local, and tribal agencies – come discover tools for crash data analysis that will help you make data driven, targeted decisions and how see how agencies have used them to analyze their data. Speakers and Topics to be covered include:
• Matthew Enders, WSDOT, will discuss how Washington DOT \ LTAP has provided data assistance to local agencies to identify and target crashes.
• Jerry Roche, FHWA and Jeff Gooch, VHB, will provide an overview of the FHWA Crash Tree Maker tool followed by a demonstration.
• Jennifer Bleiholder, ALDOT, will discuss the Alabama DOT experience with the FHWA Crash Tree Maker.
