FHWA EDC-4 Safe Transportation for Every Pedestrian (STEP) tech sheets inform transportation planners, traffic safety engineers, and other decision makers about the safety benefits and design considerations for the five STEP countermeasures: crosswalk visibility, raised cross-walks, refuge islands, hybrid beacons, and road diets.
