The objective of the work was to provide NJDOT with useful information in order to pursue beneficial use of dredged sediments. This study focused on the geotechnical properties of materials; other studies conducted concurrently considered ceramic uses and environmental characteristics of the materials. This study used common field and laboratory investigation methods to evaluate the dredged material for potential future roadway, embankment, and waste containment applications. The results are compared to those of more common materials, and published standards, where existing, used in these applications.
