This project will perform an investigation that covers the following broad objectives:
• The state-of-the-art in asset management of highway infrastructure in the United States and abroad
• Research needs for demonstrating a network-level implementation of asset management to a regional highway infrastructure system
The investigation and the resulting report will serve as a foundation for a proposal to establish a multi-disciplinary and multi-institutional research center on infrastructure asset management. This proposal will be submitted by CAIT and its partners to agencies including the National Science Foundation and the Federal Highway Administration.
