Trustworthy AI for Rail and Transit – Concepts and Fundamentals

The Rutgers Rail AI Academy is a 3-course workforce training program designed to equip rail professionals with the tools and experience needed to use AI to improve safety, reliability, efficiency, and asset management at their respective agencies. The program is organized and developed by The Rutgers Rail and Transit Program at the Center for Advanced Infrastructure and Transportation (CAIT).

Course Level 1, “Trustworthy AI for Rail and Transit – Concepts and Fundamentals,” will introduce rail and transit professionals to the fundamentals of AI and its applications in the transit industry. Rutgers researchers will demystify AI concepts and demonstrate realistic use cases for this technology based on years of experience in collaboration with the rail and transit industry. Participants will build their AI literacy through case studies and interactive learning.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Understand the fundamentals of AI and its applications in the rail and transit space
  2. Build AI literacy and confidence in assessing AI trustworthiness
  3. Learn from AI case studies based on Rutgers’ years of research in collaboration with the rail and transit industry

Audience – This training program is open to rail and transit professionals at:

  • Freight railroads
  • Passenger rail agencies
  • State DOTs
  • Public-sector transportation agencies

To be eligible for a refund for fee-based classes, you must email a withdrawal request at least 72 hours before class begins. If no withdrawal request is made, the nonrefundable and nontransferable program fee will be charged to your account.
