*POSTPONED* Maintaining Safe Walking Surfaces in Winter

  • November 21, 2022
  • 10:00 am–11:30 am

This course has been postponed

Public Works departments will be challenged all winter long with maintaining safe walking surfaces for the public. How can they stay one step ahead and do the best preventive maintenance to keep sidewalks and other areas free of accumulating ice? There’s no way to entirely eliminate the risk of a slip and fall on an icy sidewalk. However, with a little planning, agencies can reduce the chances of a slip and fall. This presentation will discuss how to prevent and manage icy walking surfaces under the responsibility of municipalities and counties, such as sidewalks. Common materials and application methods, as well as appropriate planning for weather events, will be reviewed.
