Dr. Barbara L. Christe, an experienced professor, researcher, and administrator in applied learning, was named dean of the School of Engineering Technology at Farmingdale State College in August 2018. She will serve as the partner principal investigator from Farmingdale in the Region 2 UTC Consortium led by Rutgers.

She was most recently chair of the Healthcare Engineering Technology Program and associate professor of engineering technology at Purdue School of Engineering and Technology at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis.

Christe holds a B.S. and M.S. in biomedical engineering from Marquette University, and a D.Phil. in higher education administration from the University of Phoenix. She has earned six teaching awards; regularly publishes her research and presents at scholarly conferences. Christe is the author of two books and several book chapters, and has a successful track record of grant writing, workforce training, and creating academic credentials.

She is a commissioner with the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology, Inc. (ABET), a national nonprofit organization that accredits academic programs in the disciplines of engineering, engineering technology, applied science, and computing.
