Werner Lienhart, Ph.D., is a professor at Graz University of Technology (TU Graz) in Austria and head of the Institute of Engineering Geodesy and Measurement Systems.

His main research interests are structural health monitoring, sensor selection and sensor placement, fiber optic sensors, and analysis and calibration of geodetic measurement systems.

He is associate editor responsible for Europe of the International Society for Structural Health Monitoring of Intelligent Infrastructure’s journal, The Monitor, and a member of several professional organizations including the Austrian Geodetic Commission, Austrian Society for Surveying and Geoinformation, and Society for Calibration of Geodetic Devices.

Leinhart did his graduate studies at TU Graz and his undergraduate work at Nottingham Trent University in Great Britain. His doctoral thesis, “Analysis of Inhomogeneous Structural Monitoring Data,” won the Austrian Construction Award, BMW Scientific Award (ranked 5th in category), and the Josef-Krainer-Förderungspreis Award.
